purple patchwork curtain:

For the last few months (since summer), I had vintage yellow curtains I sewed up for my bedroom window, and I had been thinking as of lately to change it but I couldn't decide what to use.

So I dove inside the storage closet and found this glittery, shiny purple nylon curtain from my first year of college living in the dorm! I had never sewed with synthetics before so it was a first.

I wanted to incorporate some kind of patchwork with the curtain, and remembered I had a charm pack of Kate Spain's Terrain. Perfect!

I cut off a huge portion of the curtain, because I couldn't have it interfere with the electric outlet underneath my window, and really I just winged the measurements by holding it up to the window and cutting it off.

I sewed together two rows of Terrain, color coordinating: the top row is pink/orange, and the bottom row is light purple/dark purple.

I love how it looks on my window. I wish I had a second pair though to go with my other window in the back of my room.

I staggered both rows on purpose. I like the effect :)
Yay, another home decor project done!
I still am working on all three quilts but the Sweet Pea quilt really is making me feel like I don't want to finish it.

What have you guys sewn over the weekend?

  1. I got some block of the months blocks finished and quilted a table runner. You curtains look great. Did you have any problems sewing through the nylon curtain?

  2. No, I was surprised I didn't have any problems. I thought it'd get really slippery. I was careful ironing it, but other than that - it went without an hitch!
